The Faculty of Advocates is a body of independent lawyers who have been admitted to practise as advocates before the Courts of Scotland. Based in Edinburgh and Glasgow, Faculty Services Ltd provides a range of support services to the membership in its role as the administrative arm of the Faculty of Advocates
The Challenge
Faculty Services Ltd has to provide a delivery solution to meet the needs of its customers both internally and externally. This solution must take into consideration
- Members and agents, such as in-house lawyers, who require a number of ways in which to distribute and receive their mail items
- Reliability and early delivery times are a key factor because the mail must be received, opened and acted upon prior to the morning court appearance
- The majority of external mail sent will go to other members of the legal community
The Solution
Faculty Services Ltd uses two DX delivery services to offer their members a complete solution.
They use DX Document Exchange to deliver the majority of their members’ mail and parcels. Because Document Exchange mail is delivered daily before 9am and is not collected until after 5pm, the members can get the most from their working day. Clerks receive mail early enough for the advocates to act on their correspondence prior to their 10am court appearances.
As the majority of its correspondents are also Document Exchange users, they are confident that the mail they send them will arrive early-morning next day.
When further security is needed, they use our DX Tracked Mail service. With barcode tracking providing increased visibility, the sender can monitor the item’s status and see online when it was delivered to the recipient’s Exchange
The Recommendation
“We save time and our mail is less expensive, both in terms of actual postal costs compared to Royal Mail and the reduced labour time. If I have any issues I can speak to my locally-based account manager who understands our company and local considerations, because they’re based in Scotland.”
Kenneth Taylor, Administration Manager at Faculty Services Ltd
