Background

Plexus Law offers services across all areas of defendant law and represents organisations ranging from insurance companies and the Lloyd's Market to public authorities, trade organisations, professional bodies and individuals. The company, which is part of the Parabis Group, was set up more than 10 years ago and operates nationwide.

 

 The Challenge

Around 2,000 items of second class mail are sent each evening from the Croydon office, where Plexus Law and five other Parabis-owned companies are based. The companies were using Royal Mail. However, DX Document Exchange customer Plexus Law, which had been badly affected by Royal Mail strikes in the past, decided to explore other options for its second class mail. 

 

The Solution

As a DX Member, Plexus Law will continue to enjoy the benefits of the secure, next day pre-9am Document Exchange service for much of its business correspondence. For its second class postcoded mail, DX recommended the new Managed Mail service.  Offering significant cost and service benefits for second class mail items, DX Managed Mail is only available to Document Exchange customers. The service is unique in allowing its customers to post second class postcoded items up to 5pm from their Exchange, giving businesses more time to send out their mail.  The mail is processed swiftly through DX’s nationwide network and passed on to the Royal Mail for final mile delivery - a 3 working day service from start to finish.  In addition to saving between 9% and 19% on 2nd class Royal Mail franking prices, DX Managed Mail can also save significant time for company post-rooms because there is no need to individually frank the mail.

A further unique aspect of the service is that using its sortation technology,  DX looks to convert postcode-addressed items into its pre-9am next day Document Exchange network wherever appropriate – meaning customers enjoy the benefit of a faster service for more of their mail.

The service is now being offered to Plexus and the five other Parabis companies based in the Croydon office, where it is expected to save between £15,000 and £20,000 a year in postal costs. It may soon be rolled out to other offices run by Parabis in Manchester, Halifax and Liverpool.
