Job Summary

  • The primary purpose of the Service Development Manager is to manage the marketing mix for the DE and DX Mail service area in order to drive profitable revenue growth.
  • The Job holder will be responsible for the planning & management of DE and DX Mail products, taking guidance from the Head of Marketing and members of the sales team representing the voice of the DX Group customer. This role requires a hands-on approach to the financial performance of the service, all related pricing & facilitating the relationship with Sales, Operations and Finance to maximise profitability.
  • The Job holder will develop and manage the DE and DX Mail product roadmaps & be recognised authority on their portfolio area.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Establish clear product propositions for the DE and DX Mail services, determining the target market and how this product fits in the DX portfolio. Set clear and unambiguous targets and objectives for the service, referenced and aligned to the annual and strategic business plans.
  • Ensure a sound knowledge of the sectors served through regular interaction with customers
  • Drive the achievement of the revenue plans by working with Sales to support new business opportunities. Through sound knowledge of the operating environment for the service, develop & maintain the product roadmap.
  • Work with the sales teams to identify and develop new product / service opportunities which meet the needs of our customers
  • Ensure marketing collateral e.g. sales presentations, case studies & tools are available to support the service from launch through lifecycle.
  •  Update & inform Sales of all developments to the service, including competitor activity, through all appropriate channels
  • Contribute to the development of pricing strategy to ensure profitability across the DE and DX Mail. Maintain the relevant tariffs, working with Sales and Finance. Agree pricing with the Management Board of DX Group
  • Support sales through contribution to bespoke pricing to support tender opportunities. Ensure that all prices are checked against costs and final prices are agreed by the Management Board of DX Group
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure that the DE network is fit for purpose to meet the needs of our customers
  • Work with operations to understand issues with the consistent delivery of the service and to obtain operational input to the service strategy,
  • Conduct industry and competitive research to ensure we have a good understanding of DX’s competitiveness and target markets and recommend strategies and policies to maximise our competitive position in the DE and DX Mail market
  • Ensure DX’s share of key markets is understood and documented
  • Facilitate marketing campaigns to maintain current and acquire new business-to-business accounts through close working with Sales and Marketing Communications colleagues.  These campaigns will include web marketing, direct marketing, affiliate partnerships, advertising/press, and trade shows/events.
  • Support and develop third party relationships. Identifying affinity partnership opportunities and ensuring that these are well planned to deliver improved business positioning and contribute to growth and increased profitability

Measures:

  • Ensure DX has a clear proposition established for these product areas and an understanding of the target market through regular contact with Sales and the customer
  • A clear understanding of the evolution of the DE network and its fitness for purpose
  • Support Sales in the development of services that meet our customers’ needs and are aligned with the strategic objectives of the business
  • Deliver a clear and effective roadmap for service areas
  • Ensure that the marketing team delivers acquisition and retention campaigns that support the targets of the Sales teams
  • Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • A background in business-to-business marketing, with product management experience
  • Experience within a service based organisation or other B2B industry servicing SME and Corporate markets.
  • Degree level & previous relevant experience.
  • Experience in applying analytical skills to solve business issues including product development, pricing and profitability, and operational issues.
