DX response to planned Royal Mail disruption

06.07.2009
On Thursday 9th and Friday 10th July London mail users will be impacted by strike action by CWU workers at Royal Mail for the second time in less than a month as part of a planned series of disruptions to protest against the pace of modernisation in Royal Mail.

This type of disruption only serves to reduce customer confidence in the mail industry as a whole and as such we at DX are disappointed that the two parties have been unable to reach a compromise.

DX was formed in response to strike action by Royal Mail workers in 1975, since then we are proud to have provided a consistent reliable and uninterrupted service to our customers.

Because we use our own network to collect, sort and deliver a million items to business and residential addresses across the UK every working day, DX is the only major mail operator not to rely on Royal Mail. This enables us to meet our commitment to reliability, security and value for money day in day out throughout the year, a commitment that will continue throughout any Royal Mail industrial action.

We therefore encourage the DX Document Exchange members to ensure that the DX service is used wherever possible to ensure both continuity of service and cost reduction. All DX customers also have access to our SecureDX product that offers a secure and tracked next day service to the majority of addresses in the UK as an alternative to RMSD.

“Postal strikes cause huge disruption to businesses and their customers. As the only alternative provider of nationwide next day mail services, we are ready to help both existing and new customers minimise the impact of the Royal Mail strike.” commented John Coghlan, Chief Executive Officer at DX, “We would expect enquiries about our services to increase if the row between the unions and Royal Mail continues”.
