DX Management Board Charity Challenge

26.06.2012

DX are delighted to be supporting the Teenage Cancer Trust again in 2012. As part of that support the Management Board of the company, along with the Chairman of the company and private equity backers of the company, Arle Partners took part on a sponsored challenge to cycle and sail around the Isle of Wight. Half the team were on road bikes, and half the team were sailing on a yacht.

The race started at 5am on Tuesday 26th June, from Cowes and travelled anti clockwise around the island. The route for the bikes was approximately 63 miles. For the yacht it was further and was dependant on the strength and direction of the wind.

There were YellowBrick satellite trackers on both teams, with their respective positions updated on our website every 5 minutes (see link below).

Both teams were able to add blogs as the challenge progressed, inclusive of photos. So take a look on the site to view the teams experiences.

Winners - The cyclists

In a hugely competitive time of 6hrs 41mins, the cyclists led by Paul Doble, with Keith Eden, Ian Pain, Mark Dickinsen and Petar Cvetkovic crossed the line as the winners.

Paul says: "Our team were awesome and completed the 70 miles in a superb time (which included a 15 mins wait for the Cowes chain ferry). Terrific logistical, nutritional and motivational support from Barrie, Debbie and Ian Smith, as we couldn't have it without them.

I believe the boat team finished in 8hrs 54mins, which is excellent considering there was next to no wind."

Commiserations must go to the losing team, comprising of Mike Sturrock, Gareth Dore, Kathy Sharkey and David Hoare, for their valiant efforts. However, for a cause such as this, there are no losers.

All in all a great morning and a fantastic amount of money raised for Teenage Cancer Trust
